This Valentine's Day, don't be afraid to test your skills in the kitchen. A home-cooked meal can really show someone you care about them. Plus, isn't cooking delicious food the fastest way to capture a person's heart?
For the beginner to intermediate cook, we wanted to find a recipe that will stretch your skills without spelling disaster (you know, like the times you had to go get takeout after you scorched your food beyond recognition...)
Roasted Cornish Hens with Vegetables:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
- Halve your cornish hens using a sharp knife or poultry shears
- Rinse the hens and pat them dry **AVOID CROSS CONTAMINATION IN YOUR KITCHEN**
- Twist the wing tips so they fit under the bird. Place the halves cut side down in a baking dish
- Brush a mixture of 2 tsp. of olive oil, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp of garlic and pepper to taste, top with a few sprigs of fresh rosemary
- roast for one hour or until no longer pink
- Serve with roasted asparagus, roasted potatoes, wild rice --- whatever you'd like
