This blade reminds me of the one my grandfather used to pack on his hunting trips. I would sit there on the counter next to him as he meticulously cleaned his hunting gear and gun, taking extra time to polish the medium length blade until it glint in the winter sunlight. He would strap it to his belt and hoist his duffle over his shoulders, pat me on the head and head out into the blinding white. That same knife would cut down the traps he lay, would skin the turkey that I would stand next to when he returned from his trips.
I wonder where the knife is today. My guess is still at the house back in Maine, sitting on the shelf next to his hunting duffle, aching to be polished. I'm sure the blade is old and dull, the handle long since loosened to the point of separation. My grandfather would love the Camillus' 9" Fixed Blade Knife that they have now. They are coated with Carbon Nitride Titanium (10x stronger than steel) and securely attached to a bamboo handle designed to wick away moisture. My grandfather loved the feel of a Camillus knife back when I was young, I'm sure he would like one now even though he has moved onto fishing and boating.
